Xiaoliuqiu Island 小琉球
A mini island off Donggang, for going all out on chilling.
If you really want to go all out on chilling, take a couple of days to visit Xiaoliuqiu 小琉球, or Little Liuqiu, a mini island on the way south with frequent ferry services from Donggang. Tickets don't necessarily need booking in advance, but buy one about an hour ahead so you have time to feast on the daily catch at the Donggang Fish Market right next to the docks. The ferry takes about 20 minutes. Buy bike or scooter tickets separately; you can't take your car to Xiaoliuqiu.
On the island
The layout of Xiaoliuqiu is extremely simple: the coastal road around the island is only 12 km (perfect for a run!). You'll only find convenience stores in the harbour village, but the rest of the island is brimming with restaurants, seaside bars, surfing and snorkelling facilities, and loads of other things for a couple of relaxing days.
