Lishan → Jiaoxi 梨山 → 礁溪

Today is all about descending. When leaving Lishan, pack enough food for the road, because the first convenience store you'll find is as far as Nanshan. Enjoy the views while speeding all the way down this desolate mountain ridge.

Towards the end, you'll pass Yilan city to the east (no need to go there). Whisky lovers may want to stop for a tour or tasting at the Kavalan Whisky distillery (voted the world's best whisky about a decade ago). Today's destination, Jiaoxi 礁溪, is famous for its hot spring hotels: most hotels have private baths in the room. Jiaoxi is furthermore a touristy town with plenty of shopping and food options.
