Effort: Hard

From Fuxing you'll ride the beautiful winding road south of the Shimen Reservoir 石門水庫. The busy mountain village of Neiwan 內灣, almost halfway, is the perfect place for lunch.

From Neiwan, you'll encounter some brutal climbs before arriving in the mountain town of Nanzhuang 南庄, where you'll stay the night.

If you're up for a challenge, go for the Yulao Pass, offering one of the most jaw-dropping views of this whole trip.

Fuxing – Yulao Pass – Neiwan – Nanzhuang

Please consider: if the weather is good, and the temperature is comfortable enough for a long day on the bike, pick this route. Restock in Fuxing before you leave, because next up is the jaw-dropping yet immense Yulao 宇老 pass, with little to no refuelling options.

The Yulao Pass is about 1,800 m up. The way down is smooth sailing, with 24 km to the mountain village of Neiwan 內灣, from where you'll follow the main route over the hills to Nanzhuang.
