Jiufen → Taipei 九份 → 台北

Keep descending to reach Keelung 基隆, a prominent harbour city close to Taipei. Don't miss the (daytime) Miaokou night market 廟口夜市 in the city centre.

After Keelung, keep following the coastline until Jinshan, where the ascent of sulphur-mist-covered Yangmingshan 陽明山, the vast volcanic mountain north of Taipei, starts. At 18 km and 800 m up, this is going to be the last sizeable effort of your trip. Ride up to the car park and enjoy the views here, as well as during the descent into Taipei.

On your way down, you'll pass the famous Shilin Night Market 士林夜市, the perfect place for a well-deserved meal. Ride further back into town through Dadaocheng, the oldest part of Taipei with loads of Japanese heritage. Finish at the wharf with a great skyline view, treating yourself to a drink at one of the outdoor or container-top terraces.
